Grab Your Garlic: Dreyer’s Classic VAMPYR Is Coming To Yerba Buena Center For The Arts

If you have never seen Dreyer’s 1932 gothic classic before, just think of it as a feature-length film comparable to David Lynch‘s Eraserhead, only a tad more conventional in the story-telling structure and minus the fact that Eraserhead had absolutely nothing to do with vampires.  The key words in that last sentence being “a tad more”.  Even if you are unfamiliar with Lynch’s film, just know that this film is one hauntingly abstract work of art that will drag you beneath the salts of the earth, then bury you with your eyes wide open.

On Saturday the 28th at 7:30 pm and Sunday the 29th at 4:30 pm come on down to the Yerba Buena Center For The Arts and witness the bleak and shadowy claustrophobic viewing experience like no other, Carl Theodor Dreyer‘s 1932 classic Vampire tale, Vampyr.

There is a reason why this film is on many critics horror list as being one of the best vampire movies ever.  As far as best blood-sucking movies are concerned, I put it right up there with Werner Herzog‘s Nosferatu and Tomas Alfredson‘s Let The Right One In.
